I teach portuguese for non native speakers aged 12 up. My method consists in tailoring the classes according to what my student needs, either being a travel or for business, or any other reason, and also based on their previous knowledge (if there is any).
Obviously, along with the portuguese lessons we will cover some cultural aspects as well, in order to contextualize what you are learning.
You´ll be able to listen and actually understand a bossa nova song, for instance, or talking to a portuguese native speaker without having to use those clumsy internet translators.
And hey, I´m learning german, mandarin and korean myself, therefore you don´t need to feel shy about asking me any questions, I know very well the uncertainties of a person giving their first steps on a new language. It can be very hard but it can be very fun as well. You just have to keep going, mistakes are part of the journey. I don´t know in your language, but as far as I know, in most languages not even the natives speak it perfectly, like a robot. We have a saying in portuguese: "Feito é melhor que perfeito" which could be translated loosely as "Done it´s better than not trying for fear of mistakes" only in portuguese it rhymes. :)
