I teach Serbian and English to children aged 5 to 12, with a strong focus on creating a positive, supportive, and engaging learning environment. My teaching approach is adapted to each child’s age, language level, personality, and individual learning needs. I believe that children learn languages best when they feel comfortable, motivated, and actively involved in the lesson.
For younger learners, I use a play-based and communicative approach. Lessons include songs, games, movement activities, pictures, stories, puppets, and simple conversations. These activities help children develop their vocabulary, pronunciation, listening, and speaking skills naturally while keeping them interested and focused. I often use repetition and visual materials to reinforce new language in an enjoyable way.
With older children, I gradually introduce more structured activities, including reading, writing, grammar practice, role-plays, discussions, and short projects. I encourage students to use the language in meaningful contexts rather than simply memorising rules or vocabulary. I also connect lessons to topics that are relevant and interesting to children, such as animals, sports, hobbies, school, family, food, and everyday life.
When teaching Serbian, I pay particular attention to pronunciation, vocabulary development, sentence structure, and, when appropriate, reading and writing in Cyrillic. In English lessons, I focus on building confidence in communication while developing all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
I use positive reinforcement and constructive feedback to encourage progress and build confidence. My goal is not only to teach children a language, but also to help them become curious, independent, and confident learners who enjoy communicating in Serbian and English.
