I am a native English speaker with eight years of experience teaching English, and I hold a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature, an Honour's degree in Gender Studies, and I am fully TESOL certified. I teach all levels, from absolute beginners to advanced learners, both adults and young learners.
Lessons are designed using source materials, students' own materials (work, school), and language learning textbooks. I strive to tailor lesson plans and materials to the students' individual needs, interests, and goals, so the first lesson or part thereof is dedicated to establishing the students' current level and goals/reasons for learning English. Each lesson after that is structured in the PPP format:
- Presentation: key topics and themes that focus on target language or skills (e.g. vocabulary, parts of speech, reading comprehension, etc.)
- Production: teacher-guided breakdown of target language or skills (e.g. writing/responding to emails, formal and informal greetings and introductions, verbs and tenses, structuring questions, etc.)
- Practice: guided and self-practice exercises where students apply what they have learned (sentence structures, conversation and dialogue practice, reading and listening comprehension, choose the correct word, etc.)
Tests, assignments, and homework are also available upon request. Additional resources and materials for self-practice are also available upon request.
Lessons are student-centred, so students have plenty of opportunities to speak and practise their English skills. Videos, audio recordings, stories, discussions, games, role-playing exercises, and groupwork (where applicable) are used to keep learning fun, practical, and interactive.
Classes are held over Google Meet or Microsoft Teams and last 50 minutes. Feedback and progress reports are emailed to students once a week. It is recommended that students schedule at least two lessons a week to ensure regular progress.
