My Teaching Philosophy
I believe that Math and Science are often viewed as "hard" simply because they are taught as a list of rules to follow rather than a story to understand. With over three years of experience tutoring students and a professional background in Marine Engineering, my goal is to strip away the jargon and show my students the logic behind the numbers. I don’t just want you to memorize a formula; I want you to understand why it exists so you can solve any problem thrown your way.
Lesson Dynamics & Structure
My lessons are interactive and student-led. We typically follow a three-step flow:
• The Context: We start by relating a topic to the real world. If we are studying Physics or Calculus, I use my engineering experience to explain how these concepts apply to building ships or understanding motion.
• Guided Practice: We work through problems together. I use a step-by-step breakdown method, where we simplify complex equations into smaller, manageable pieces.
• Independent Mastery: I let the student take the lead while I provide safety-net support. This builds the confidence needed for exams.
Expertise & Methods
My expertise covers Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. I specialize in helping students who feel stuck or overwhelmed by technical subjects. My methods include:
• Visual Learning: Using diagrams and real-world analogies to explain abstract concepts.
• Active Recall: Using quick checks to ensure the student actually understands the previous step before moving on.
• Exam Strategy: Teaching students how to read between the lines of exam questions to identify what the examiner is actually asking for.
Ultimately, I am a patient and dedicated tutor. Whether you are struggling with basic Algebra or advanced Physics, I am here to provide a supportive space where wrong answers are just stepping stones to getting it right!
