Mark Rogers

I have been teaching English since 1997. I was the head Teacher at Sankei International College in Tokyo. I have also developed TOEIC/TOEFL prep courses. I teach all ages, but my focus has been on University students and Business English. I can teach to a specific grammar or idiom set, or teach conversation fluency.
Living internationally for 30 years gives me a good understanding of specific intercultural communication challenges depending on the students' cultural background. Intercultural understanding is a feature of language teaching that I feel is not emphasized enough. Lessons are normally 50 minutes, but I am flexible about this.
Lesson dynamics are suited to the students' needs. Beginners will receive clearer enunciation, while advanced learners will get idiomatically authentic American English, including common slang expressions.
I have a strong background in travel and especially adventure travel. I am active in freediving, motorcycling and winter sports. In sum, a wealth of personal experience and intercultural knowledge to bring to any conversation.
