I have experience as a mentor to children aged 9 to 10 in helping with academic activities and organising group activities. I helped to create learning resources in English and Maths along with other mentors. I have also assisted in rowing sessions where I have taught beginners how to row. Both these experiences have shown to me I am able to teach and transfer knowledge to different people in different ways. I am currently studying Psychology: Learning Sciences and Human Development and within this I have created learning resources in groups to present and help other colleagues further understand concepts using activities. Within my degree I learn specifically about how people learn and different approaches that can be used which I would implement within our lessons. For a lesson with me my first focus would be ensuring I know your learning goals and what it is you want to learn. Then I would take into consideration your preferred learning styles and integrate this into the lesson. After this I would create content based on your requests and the subject area focused on. Then the majority of the lesson would involve completing activities related to the content which I would help guide you through. For example, we may look at different mental health problems and their treatments and how these would be applied in different clinical settings as this could be something that comes up in an exam you are studying towards. If this style of teaching interests you, I look forward to hearing from you!
