OVERVIEW OF MY LESSONS & APPROACH
My lessons are highly structured, dynamic, and carefully tailored to the pace and personality of each student. With 5 years of dedicated private tutoring experience alongside a First Class Honours Master of Engineering degree from the University of Manchester, I do not just teach students how to memorize formulas; I teach them how to think like problem-solvers.
Whether we are tackling Cambridge (IGCSE/A-Levels), the IB Diploma Program (AI/AA), or SAT Math, my goal is to strip away the intimidation of mathematics and make it logical, accessible, and deeply intuitive.
TEACHING METHODS & CONTENT
I bridge the gap between abstract mathematical theory and concrete, logical execution. Over my 5 years of teaching, I have built a methodology on three core pillars:
The Blueprint Method (Concept Mastery): Before jumping into complex practice problems, we break down theories into core principles. I use clear visual analogies, step-by-step logic, and engineering frameworks to explain the why behind the how.
Curriculum-Specific Target Alignment: The curriculum dictates our roadmap. I align every lesson with the specific grading rubrics and structural requirements of your exact board:
Cambridge (IGCSE/A-Level): Strong focus on algebraic manipulation, rigorous multi-step proofing, and strict adherence to mark schemes.
IB DP (Standard/Higher Level): Developing the deep conceptual understanding required for complex, unseen context problems and inquiry-based questions.
SAT Math: Focus on speed, pattern recognition, elimination strategies, and maximizing score efficiency.
Active Framework Practice: We analyze real past exam papers from day one. I teach students how to read between the lines of a question, dissect what the examiner is actually asking for, and structure their answers to capture maximum marks.
LESSON DYNAMICS: WHAT A TYPICAL CLASS LOOKS LIKE
My online sessions are collaborative, high-energy, and interactive. We do not do passive lectures. A standard 60-to-90-minute session flows seamlessly through these stages:
The Revision Warm-Up (10 mins): We review previous assignments or iron out specific stumbling blocks from the student's current school week.
Core Concept Breakdown (20-30 mins): Interactive delivery of the day's new topic using a shared digital whiteboard. Students actively participate in deriving formulas or mapping out ideas.
Guided Collaboration (20 mins): We solve intermediate to advanced-level problems together. I prompt the student with guiding questions rather than just handing over the answer, fostering their independent thinking.
Independent Sprint & Review (15 mins): The student tackles an exam-style question completely independently while I observe their live working process, correcting subtle structural errors or pacing habits immediately.
Wrap-Up & Strategic Homework: We summarize the key takeaways, and I assign targeted, high-yield practice questions for the week ahead.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE & CREDENTIALS
5 Years of Dedicated Tutoring Experience: Half a decade of experience guiding international school students through rigorous curriculum transitions, helping them overcome math anxiety, turn failing grades into top marks (A/A* or 7s), and significantly boost their SAT scores.
Top-Tier Academic Foundation: Holder of a First Class Honours Master of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Manchester, having completed intensive A-Level training prior.
Adaptive Mentorship: I understand that every student learns differently. My approach blends absolute patience with clear accountability, empowering students to build genuine, long-term academic confidence and independent problem-solving skills.
