I am currently teaching Math to the primary grades. teaching methodology includes games, puzzles, using rods, cubes and clocks for the place value. Explaining math through everyday situations like shopping, estimations and measurement. i use charts, number lines, visuals and flashcards to make math more fun and to allow kids have hand on experience of different topics.
content that i have taken so far are number system, addition and subtractions, multiplication and division, time, money, fractions, probability, 2D and 3D shapes, Patterns, Angles, Positions and movement and Data handling,
my math sessions emphasize on mental math, for which I focus more on warm up drilling sessions followed by problem solving in worksheets and hand on activities.
In short, three years of teaching math at the primary level is a journey of turning numbers into stories, problems into puzzles, and classrooms into spaces of joyful discovery.
