An English Second Language Tutor for all ages

When teaching English language, one has to be very strategic to ensure that the students grasp the content and that the learning competencies and objectives are met. My teaching strategies are simple in a way that I teach English language rules, step by step without skipping a competency that needs to be mastered before the next. For example, one can not teach “sentences” without teaching “punctuations” first because a sentence without punctuation marks is incomplete and wrong. So, it is required that punctuation marks are taught; how to use the them and when they can be used.

Therefore, with the help of my syllabus and scheme of work, I get directions on how to ensure that my students have mastered the language skills perfectly well. The syllabus and scheme of work directs a teacher what she needs to teach in order to complete the competencies.

Being a Head of the Languages Department at my school, my responsibility is to manage and run the department. Managing and running the department entails making sure that teachers are teaching and on par with the syllabus. I am also the moderator, ensuring that teachers have assessed well as per syllabus and also to ensure that learners are being taught what the syllabus stipulates. Being an English HOD, I implement rules with regards to proper articulation of the English language since our school has English as a Medium of instruction and therefore both learners and teachers are expected to communicate in English at all times.
