I believe that effective language teaching begins with understanding the individual needs, interests, experiences, and goals of each student. For this reason, whenever I start working with a new student, I make an effort to get to know them, their motivations, previous experiences, interests, strengths, challenges, and expectations, which allows me to design lessons that are meaningful and relevant to their particular context. Rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach, I adapt my teaching strategies and materials to create learning experiences that respond to each student's reality.
In my virtual classes, I place particular emphasis on interaction and active participation. I see the student not simply as a recipient of information, but as an active participant in the learning process. Therefore, I design lessons in which students have opportunities to communicate, make decisions, express their ideas, solve problems, and use the target language for meaningful purposes. I try to make online learning dynamic and engaging by incorporating a variety of digital resources, authentic materials, and interactive activities that encourage students to take an active role throughout the class.
One of the central elements of my methodology is the integration of multimodal activities that develop the four communicative skills: speaking, reading, listening, and writing. I believe that these skills should not be taught in isolation, but rather connected through activities that reflect the way language is used in real-life contexts. For example, a lesson may combine a video or podcast with reading and discussion, followed by a writing task in which students use the language they have encountered to communicate their own ideas. In this way, students are exposed to different forms of input and are given multiple opportunities to produce and interact with the language.
I also believe in challenging students beyond the repetition of grammatical structures or vocabulary. I encourage them to encounter the target language in different situations and to use it creatively and practically. Consequently, I design tasks that connect classroom learning with students' everyday lives, academic interests, professional contexts, and personal goals. These activities can involve simulations, problem-solving tasks, discussions, creative projects, role-plays, authentic texts, or digital media, depending on the learner's needs and interests.
Ultimately, my goal is to create a learning environment in which students feel that the language they are learning has a real purpose. By combining personalization, interaction, multimodality, and practical communication, I aim to help students become more confident and autonomous language users who can transfer what they learn in class to meaningful situations beyond the classroom.
