I am a professional interpreter, documents translator and private tutor in English and Spanish with over 20 years of combined experience providing services to the American government and private corporations. I like to work with texts in a very deep and extensive way to be able to offer precise knowledge of the language structure with the appropriate practices to my students. My approach is deep and holistic, but always respecting the pace of learning of each student. That is very important to prevent my students from feeling frustrated when they are learning English or Spanish. Through my experience with many types of students, including corporate, I have learned that some of the barriers to learn English or Spanish are related to the previous learning of a poor grammatical structure. Today, that situation is highlighted even more based on the use of the artificial intelligence as a substitute of both the translator and the teacher. The problem is that the artificial intelligence is not totally perfect and makes translation errors pretty frequently. Therefore, students cannot realize about it by themselves and, consequently, they end up learning the contextual and grammatical errors from the so many apps and bots created by the artificial intelligence that are found everywhere on the internet. Another factor that negatively influences the correct learning of grammar in English or Spanish is the massive influence of rap/reggaeton music, where the priority is not the correct grammar, but the rhythm and melody of such music. These are only some of the few issues that directly impact the proper learning of foreign languages today. That is why I like to make my students aware of these situations, so that they can increase their command of the English or the Spanish language, based on the quality of the contents they are learning and not on the quantity of such contents.
