I teach psychology the way I wish it had been taught to me, through conversation, not monologue. My sessions are discussion-based. I teach psychology the way I wish it had been taught to me, through conversation, not monologue. My sessions are discussion-based. I introduce a concept, we unpack it together, and then we apply it to something real, a case study, a headline, a film, a situation from your own life. Psychology only sticks when it stops being abstract.
My method depends on what you need. For students preparing for exams, I use active recall and spaced repetition, we don't just review notes, we practice retrieving information under the kind of pressure you'll actually face. I teach you how to read a question properly, structure a clear answer, and avoid the common traps that cost marks. For students working on essays or research projects, I guide you through building an argument step by step, from choosing a question to finding evidence to writing a conclusion that actually says something.
For curious learners who aren't in a formal program, I design sessions around topics that interest you. We might spend a session on why people conform, how propaganda works, what attachment theory says about your relationships, or why social media feels addictive. I pull from social psychology, abnormal psychology, clinical psychology, and cultural studies, and I connect them, because in real life these fields don't exist in separate boxes.
I bring a few things to the table that shape how I teach. I co-founded a peer counseling program at my university, which taught me how to listen carefully and meet people where they are. I've published analytical essays on psychology and culture. And I've spent years as a writing tutor, which means I know how to explain complex ideas in plain language without dumbing them down. But more importantly, I genuinely love this subject, and that comes through in every session.
