The MAC program is a structured approach that combines mindfulness, acceptance, and commitment to develop psychological flexibility, attention, emotional regulation, and more consistent performance.
The program is typically structured into seven sessions, progressing from psychoeducation and mindfulness skills to acceptance, values, commitment, and the integration of these skills into everyday life and performance.
In the early sessions, I introduce mindfulness and use practical metaphors and exercises to help students understand how thoughts, emotions, and sensations can affect their behaviour and performance.
Mindfulness practices are used to develop attention and awareness, helping students stay focused on the present moment rather than becoming overwhelmed by thoughts, emotions, or distractions.
The following sessions focus on acceptance, helping students develop a different relationship with difficult thoughts and emotions rather than constantly trying to control or avoid them.
I also work with personal values to identify what is genuinely important to each person and use these values to create meaningful goals and strengthen commitment to action.
The final stage focuses on integrating mindfulness, acceptance, and commitment into practical situations, helping students apply these skills consistently in their daily lives or performance environments.
The objective is to help the person to have a control of their performance in whatever is the discipline, increase effectiveness and reduced performance anxiety.
